How to deal with a hostile co-worker who has been there longer than you?

So, I just started this new job. On my first 2 weeks, I found out that this guy was complaining about me even though I had no interaction with him whatso ever. I told him that if he had a problem with my work to talk to me about it. He told me that he had never said anything, even though I know he had. He stopped talking to me and so I said to him I believe him if he said he said nothing. Anyway, I am working on a project with him now. I am the tester and he is the developer. It looked like he publical posted an errored doc. I asked him in the hall if the right version was uploaded and it had red marks in it. He visiously replied and sent me an email saying that everyone makes mistakes. I replied saying that I just wanted to let him know so he could fix it. He started writing that I need to look in the right folders and also complained to co-workers. I don't know what to do because the project hasn't even started and he is already hostile with me. Maybe he has a general prb w women?
